After the storm

 

After the storm

all that will have persisted

will be a word

perhaps whispered

in the lull

before the next storm,

and the one after that

and the one following…

All that will have stayed

will be the sense of quiet rain

sounding like a lullaby

feeling like

a cleansing

yet only an imaginary one

for not all can be cleansed away.

After the most violent of the storms

something will still have stayed.
